Why I choose a Disney Cruise over any other Cruise

Why I Choose a Disney Cruise (Over Any Other Cruise)

After my trip, I totally get why people keep talking about Disney cruises—because the experience really is different. Here’s what stood out to me most:

1) The cleanliness is next-level

The ship was super clean the whole time, from the common areas to the places you walk through every day. It made everything feel comfortable and stress-free.

2) The little free extras actually matter

Disney kept surprising me with perks, like:

Free water and lemonade waiting for you when you get back on the ship

A staff member (or attendant) standing in front to greet you when you return—something I didn’t see on other cruises

3) They’re ready for anything

When it rained, they didn’t just shrug it off. They handed out ponchos for everyone, so you could still enjoy the day without getting drenched. And in ports where mosquitoes are a big deal, there was even a huge bottle of bug lotion waiting for guests when you got off the ship.

4) Food and fun don’t stop

I loved that there were so many “free and easy” options, including:

Free ice cream all day

Free soda

Fun bingo activities and other organized events

5) The best part: the community vibe (door decorating + Fish Extenders)

One of my favorite things was seeing how creative other guests are. People decorate their cabin doors with magnets—it looks so cute, like everyone’s adding their own little personal touch to the hallway.

And there’s also something called Fish Extenders (gift exchange)! Guests sign up and then exchange small gifts with other cabins—so it feels festive from day one.

Pack a poncho + bug spray (just in case): Disney may provide ponchos and you’ll often find bug lotion at ports, but having your own doesn’t hurt.

Bring a small over-the-door organizer: It’s perfect for keeping sunscreen, chargers, sunglasses, and toiletries off the floor.

Use magnetic décor on your door early: Lots of guests personalize their doors with magnets—do it right away so you can enjoy the fun right from the start.

Download the Disney Cruise Line app: It helps you see schedules, make dining plans, and manage reservations more easily.

Book your dining shows and activities as soon as you can: Some popular things fill up quickly.

Get to dinner/activities a little early: You’ll avoid stress and can grab a good spot without rushing.

Bring a reusable water bottle: Even though there’s free water/lemonade at times, having your own bottle is super convenient.

Save sunscreen + after-sun space in your bag: Deck days add up fast—having it ready makes beach plans easy.

Plan your port day clothing: Wear quick-dry clothes, comfy shoes, and consider a hat + sunglasses.

Check the weather and be flexible: If it rains, Disney usually has solutions—just adapt and keep your attitude fun.

Don’t miss the “included” perks: Look out for things like free soda, ice cream, bingo, and other activities happening all day.

Do Fish Extenders if you can: It’s a fun onboard gift exchange and helps you meet other cruisers and feel the community vibe.

Final thought

To me, what makes a Disney cruise worth it is the attention to the details—whether it’s cleanliness, snacks, activities, or making sure you’re prepared for weather (or bugs). It feels like everything is planned for you to have an amazing time.
